Just curious?

I am sure you guys use a pro-camera. I think my Nokia N93 can give a better picture quality.

I just don't understand....Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19510230.post-65494641756504055172007-01-19T00:46:00.000+08:002007-01-19T00:46:00.000+08:00AZ, the reason we were given for Buli was a lack o...AZ, the reason we were given for Buli was a lack of budget. Unfortunately it was an attitude prevalent back then and still exists now. However it comes back to bite people in the bum because sooner or later, as is happening with you, the consumers might get irate enough to stop buying.

For Buli, we wanted to have subtitles burned into the master reel so that people other than Malays or MAlay speakers could watch it. No, they didn't want to do it. Apparently they viewed the extra thousand ringgit or so cost as way too much, and the reason is, they believed only malays would watch.

The possibility that a tourist interested in watching a local film, or a non-Malay Malaysian interested in his or her own country's movies, was a possibility that could never be, according to them. It's this closed mindset which is the greatest killer of opportunity and potential awakening in this country!mamasanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16948181008359323211noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19510230.post-22754244441204330472007-01-19T00:39:00.000+08:002007-01-19T00:39:00.000+08:00I agree WT still has a very strong role to play, i...I agree WT still has a very strong role to play, it's just that a weak film with no one watching would then be taking up precious space for two weeks! Which is why I think the sooner films can compete strongly with other films, the better.

We just have a long way to go...mamasanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16948181008359323211noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19510230.post-50961545335373859552007-01-19T00:25:00.000+08:002007-01-19T00:25:00.000+08:00Can i ask a question?
Honestly, I feel very very...Can i ask a question?

Honestly, I feel very very sad for the local production house in Malaysia. Today I went out and saw the CINTA VCD on sale at Speedy Video.

I quickly grab the movie as i LOVE the movie so much. I even bought the Original Soundtrack. (Haven't bought a Original CD in AGES. :-P)

Anyway, why is it that Local Movies in the ORIGINAL VCD are CRAPPY ! NO SHIT ! I think if i get a Pirated copied from the cinema has better quality.

WHY CAN'T PEOPLE CREATE QUALITY ORIGINAL MOVIES on VCD or DVD?

This is not the first time, I also bought BULI original COPY and also the quality is like CRAP. SAD !! I want to support the local industry but the industry gives me SHIT. Sad...

I can personally say, if you say no budget, go to any local university which has a multimedia course (eg MMU) and ask the students to do it for you. I CAN GUARANTEE you, students can make a MILLION times better then what you get in the store today.

Just answer me, why is the quality crappy?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19510230.post-91997760618773313592007-01-19T00:11:00.000+08:002007-01-19T00:11:00.000+08:00I think WT is a must in for our local cinema. It h...I think WT is a must in for our local cinema. It helps protect the local movie industry.

Again, as you say, it comes down to Supply and Demand. No one can scold the Cinema operator to or demand them to show a local production longer then 2 weeks IF the movie has no demand. This is business. Not personal. The local industry should make more QUALITY movies and gain the popularity to attract people to watch their MOVIE.

This is my personal experience. I went to watch "BULI BALIK" at the cinema. I can safely say that it was an okie movie. I don't categories the movie as great. To me as i see it, Local movies tend to create movies for the "MAlAY" population and not for "MALAYSIAN" Some "LAWAK" in the movie are purely malay jokes and some of them even i don't understand. You tell me how can they survive in the market?

Again, give people what they want. Do your research. YES Movies comes from the heart but that does not mean you don't do your research. Talk to people, ask them, analyze, and see what is the demand and what kind of movie the public is looking for. I am not asking local production to do something like spiderman or Pirates. SEPET, Gubra. they all did a good job.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19510230.post-63218798311807804052007-01-18T16:05:00.000+08:002007-01-18T16:05:00.000+08:00I think the current movie goers are vocal enough w...I think the current movie goers are vocal enough with their choices, going only for those they WANT to watch...be it local or international movies. if we're looking from a business POV, then the lack of Nationalism in our choice shouldn't be a problem.

But the fact is, it is estimated that we have only 10%-20% of movie goers, as compared to 26 mil Malaysians. Even if the RM5 mil for Cicakman comes from first timers' tix (assuming a tix costs rm10), it would only mean 500 thousand tickets sold. that's about 14,286 person per cinema (assuming 30 days of screening), 476 seatings a day. do tell if my calculations are wrong.

it may sound a lot if there's only 35 cinemas, but to reach a thousand, the amount of movie goers must multiply! we have seen how a movie was devastated when people do not want to watch it (misi 1511), even when there was government backup amounting to 2.5mil!

WT is still a must, since our own perception about our own movies haven't changed yet, but with the likes of afdlin, yasmin, ahmad idham, khabir bahtia, mamat khalid, even Prof Maddy, local cinema scenes continues to grow bigger and better.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02770897586500665826noreply@blogger.com
